40 years after the first staging in Szeged, Stephen, the King returns! Before the Holiday of the founding of the Hungarian State and during the long weekend of the holiday, viewers shall be invited four times to decide whether they back István’s or Koppány’s claim in one of the most important conflicts in early Hungarian history!

In the show staged chock-full of unique theatrical inventions by Zikkurat Produkció, a never-before-seen cast of talented actors – like Balázs Koltai-Nagy in the titular role – and popular singers – like Gergő Baricz as Koppány, alongside Richárd Borbély, Juli Horányi, Leander Köteles, Sena Dagadu, Ágnes Herczku, János Kardos-Horváth, bring the memorable roles of the play to life and perform the iconic songs of the rock opera in their original orchestration.

The set designed by Kázmér Tóth is brought to Szeged in a modified form, engineered specifically for the characteristics of Dóm Square. The show is directed by Péter Novák whose own life and carrier is intertwined with the story of Stephen, the King. In his direction the audience at Szeged Open-air Theatre is guaranteed not only the well-loved music that has become a national treasure over the years, but an exceptional show, the true Theatre of Experience.
